My First TV Appearance
Soon it was “Take One…and Action” and I was prodded with questions about meeting God, a leaders network I was pioneering, and various other things I’d done. After some time I was asked to sing, so I settled at the keyboard and launched into “Lost in Your Glory” a song I wrote about a time I encountered God’s presence, the visions he gave me for Europe and the angelic beings I saw.
Now there are some songs that are just songs, and there are others that seem to take you somewhere. For me, this song always takes me back to God’s presence, so I just closed my eyes and enjoyed my Jesus. After the song I opened my eyes and the presenter, who until this moment had seemed a little disinterested, was now dabbing away the tears!
The sharp professional plans seemed to fall by the wayside as they changed their programme, shelved ideas of other interviews and music videos and asked me to keep singing!
Just like the priests in Solomon’s day, there’s something about the presence of God that makes all true God-lovers give up our programmes and plans, and dive into the depths of His glory. I love it when He turns up, and my plans are messed up, and I’ve been trying to mess up TV programmes ever since!
days of wonder...
...are upon us
I’m a musician, but I don’t love music. If God’s presence came because of juggling, I’d be a juggler. It’s the presence of God I love. So if God’s presence invades our lives when music and worship are happening, then I’ll play happily play for you!
One of the times this truth came home to me was in my first television appearance.
I was invited to be interviewed, and to perform, on one of God Channel’s flagship interview and music programmes. It was my first time on TV, so I was a little nervous as I set up my keyboard and got to know the presenter.
